I'm Aoife, an oil and watercolour painter currently working from my spare bedroom turned yoga and art studio in my home by the beach in Melbourne, Australia.
I'm an online yoga & pilates instructor, an avid gamer (think The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Far Cry, etc), proud bookworm, beach bum, and adventure & travel lover.
(Psst... If you don't know how to pronounce my very Irish name, that's ok! It's EE-F-AH. Like Eva but with an F in the middle.)
Through my work, I attempt to explore the beauty in everyday items and events. I'm intrigued by the things that can seem so small, but can have a big impact on our joy. Highlighting their charm and allurement, which can can often get overlooked, has given me a new perspective on my own gratitude and love towards them and it's my aim for my work to showcase that to others.
I currently express this through my Sketch My Life project, where I paint watercolour renderings of these objects or events in my life. This began during lockdowns when I had to temporarily abandon other projects (some to do with travel, some to do with in-life models) due to the isolation we all experienced. I picked up this project as a way to express gratitude for the things within my reach at the time.
I have started working on my other projects (especially oils) now that lockdowns have lifted, but they are in too early a stage to talk about. I hope to build this body of work in the not-too-distant future, and I will express my insight more when I can. In the meantime, you can follow my progress on my Instagram.
